Dr. Korvus, Plato and Wilson continue their investigations through the coal-choked streets of London, searching for the force that is unleashing hordes of mutants on the city. Then, events deteriorate further, as an accompanying contagion breaks out. Their adversary is something beyond rational imagining, a force older than the world itself, representing a threat to the entire human race.
