Although badly damaged, the Phalanx miraculously makes its way to Earth, ahead of the impending Lanky invasion. As the ship nears orbit, it is passed by a new defense force heading back into battle, including Commander Soraya Yamin's brother. Convinced that her brother Darius is doomed to die, Soraya hails her commanding officers, attempting to have the ships abandon their futile course.
