The US Government discovers a mysterious energy source called Alpha Energy, which can unleash latent abilities in the human mind and body. In a painful procedure of energy integration, the subjects undergo a huge number of genetic alterations. Those who survive the treatment become the guardians of America with the codename Anthem. Unfortunately, the procedure is flawed. One after another, following a period of full activity and immense power, all Anthems fall into a catatonic trance. Despite these failures, the military responsible for Project Alpha continue their experiments.
