Battletech Campaigns are a monthly, open-ended, campaign framework run by a gamemaster (GM), with other individuals taking on the role of a mercenary company.
Each month the GM will read through the scenario and provide the limited information available to the players at the start of the mission. Each player will command one battlemech and, working as a team, face off against the GM controlled opposition to complete objectives. Battletech Campaigns are an episodic structure allowing players to jump in and out between missions and does not require a player to play previous missions. Campaign missions run between 3-4 hours.
Battletech Campaigns are built using the Chaos Campaign rules from the Campaign Operations book and uses Support Points (SP) as the rewards and opportunities that arise out of combat. At the end of each mission players can use SP earned to upgrade pilots and Battlemechs or purchase new pilots or Battlemechs.
Playing in the campaign assumes players own BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat or the Beginner Box.
However, neither are required to play as the GM will have extra Battlemechs and Record Sheets available. New players will start with a 4/5 (Gunnery/Piloting) Pilot, and any Intro Tech Light or Medium Inner Sphere Mech and 100 Support Points (SP).
