Magic Academy: Deckbuilding
Friday, January 31
7PM
Magic Academy: Deckbuilding is the second of a four-part series at Atomic Empire that guides players through deck building and their first foray into Limited format play. After a video demo, players will receive a Foundations Prerelease Pack (included with admission) that contains 6 Play Boosters that will be used as their Sealed pool.
An Atomic Empire staffer will be there to guide the process and answer questions. Players will sort out their cards into piles, identify the cards they want to build around, then build their first 40-card deck. Before the event organizer splits players into pairs for casual one-on-one matches, there will be a deck review phase where new players can show their deck to experienced staff or players who can provide advice to those building a deck for the first time.
The organizer will then help split players into pairs to play against each other, based on experience level. Players are encouraged to share their decks with each other before beginning the match, and discuss strategies while they play to help build understanding of different colors and strategies.
In addition to the Prerelease Kit, all participants will receive:
- Learn-to-Play Brochure and pocket reference card
- Sticker Sheet
- 1 foil Darksteel Colossus promo card
All promos are available while supplies last.
Think of this event as an upgrade to the Open House events we’ve offered in the past, now with more resources and a four-part series that we invite new players to join.
If you enjoy this event, we encourage you to check out Part 3, our Aetherdrift Prerelease (Friday, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, or Sunday - requires a partner) where you can put your newly learned deckbuilding skills to the test!
After the prerelease, you can take all your cards from it and the other Magic Academy events to put together a 60-card deck to play in Part 4: Standard Showdown.
Also consider our other Magic offerings like Friday Night Magic, and Commander Nights on Wednesdays!
Preregistration is required for this event. Please note the Registration Deadline below.
You do not have to have attended another Atomic Empire Magic Academy event to attend this, nor does attending this one obligate your attendance at another.
A Wizards Account is also required for this event. If you do not have one, you can create one here.
